Montana Tech Campus Life will host a 9/11 Day of Remembrance Luncheon to honor first responders throughout Butte-Silver Bow on Friday, September 11, 2026. The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Montana Tech Copper Lounge, located in the Student Union Building.

The event serves as an opportunity for the campus community to give back to the men and women who serve the region daily.

"Our local first responders give so much to keep Butte-Silver Bow safe," Director of Campus Life Madeline Thomas said."This luncheon is a small way for Montana Tech to show our immense gratitude and give back to the people who are always there for us."

The day of service and reflection will continue into the evening as the Montana Tech Oredigger volleyball team takes on Bismarck State at 6:00 p.m. on Kelvin Sampson Court. To encourage community participation and address local food insecurity, admission to the volleyball match is free for any spectator who brings a non-perishable canned food item. All contributions will benefit the Montana Tech Student Food Pantry to support students in need. The campus goal is to collect 250 food items.

As a proud member of the Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement, Montana Tech remains dedicated to fostering civic responsibility, public service, and strong community partnerships through hands-on engagement and local outreach initiatives.

All area first responders—including law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel—are invited to attend the afternoon luncheon free of charge. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the evening volleyball game and support the food drive.
