Biography

Kevin J. Negus received the Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada in 1988. His Silicon Valley career began in 1986 at the Fairchild Semiconductor Research Center in Palo Alto, CA. From 1988 to 1998 he held various R&D management positions with the Hewlett-Packard Company in San Jose, CA where he led the development of chipset solutions for numerous wireless communications systems. From 1998 to 2003, Kevin was the Chief Technology Officer of then publicly-traded Proxim Corporation in Sunnyvale, CA where he was responsible for core technology strategy including silicon development, acquisitions, standards participation and intellectual property licensing. Since 2003, Kevin has been helping startup companies achieve business and technology leadership as well as providing expert witness consulting services to numerous companies large and small on patent related matters. In his 30+ years of engineering, he has published more than 40 technical papers and holds over 30 US patents.

Kevin is currently the Chairman, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Fastback Networks in San Jose, CA, a General Partner with Camp Ventures in Los Altos, CA, a management advisor to multiple Silicon Valley based startups, and a consultant on patent litigation matters to multiple clients. Kevin has also provided past public service as a member of the FCC's Technical Advisory Committee and as a member of the Wyoming State Telecom Council.

Research Interests

Wireless network systems for the delivery of mobile broadband communications services in remote areas. Specific research interests include the development of equipment and protocols to support such services based on real-world measurements.
