Joe Cooper
Vice Provost for Student Success and Dean of Students
Originally from Michigan, Joe has nearly 20 years of experience working with and supporting students in various higher education settings. Joe is passionate about student access and equity, and he and his team are dedicated to making students and their success the highest priority. As Vice Provost and Dean of Students, Joe leads the incredibly talented staff members within the areas of Residence Life, Career Services, Counseling and Wellness Services, the Student Union Building (SUB), Outdoor Recreation, Campus Life, and Academic Support Services.
Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northern Michigan University, a master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration from South Dakota State University, and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College. Joe loves living in and exploring Butte with his partner (Angela), son (Ellis), and two dogs.
