Online Course Design Help

New U.S. Department of Education regulations went into effect on July 1, 2021 to distinguish distance education from correspondence courses, which have financial aid restrictions. This tip sheet defines regular and substantive interaction and provides tips for how to improve teacher-student interaction in your distance education course.

Tips for Success in Online Learning

Canvas On Demand (COD)

In Spring of 2025, Tech went fully live in Canvas. To support faculty and staff in learning how to interact and build courses in Canvas, CAI built an on-demand tutorial course. All MTech faculty and staff should have COD in their Canvas dashboard.  The course includes tutorials, links to further resources, and presentations for setting up courses, design, accessibility, communications, and much more.  If any faculty or staff member cannot find or access COD, please reach out to cai@mtech.edu for further assistance.
