2019 Student Veteran Award winnerAs a way to honor our Veterans and Active Duty members, Montana Tech hosts an annual Veterans Appreciation Banquet every November. Faculty, staff, and students who served in the military, both past and present, are invited to attend the event. During the banquet, Montana Tech recognizes our Distinguished Student Veteran nominees and recipient of the award. The Distinguished Student Veteran Award began in 2014 as a way to honor and recognize our outstanding student veterans at Montana Tech. They have selflessly served our country and for that, we are forever thankful.

This year, Montana Tech had eight nominees for the Distinguished Student Veteran Award. Each student was nominated by a faculty or staff member on campus. Their contribution to the campus and leadership in the classroom is unparalleled. The 2019 nominees include David White, Eric Brown, Loran Brooks, Ryan Mutzenberger, Stanley Glovan, Steven Sorensen, Zachariah Valenzuela, and Amber Dimasi-Jantzen. The recipient of the award was Amber Dimasi-Jantzen, a Biological Sciences student. Dimasi-Jantzen is the first female student to receive this award.

“We were thrilled to receive eight nominations from the campus,” noted Janet Friesz, Registrar, and Veterans School Certifying Official. “We have outstanding student veterans and I am thrilled we are able to recognize and honor them on campus.”
