Becky received her M.S. in Mathematics from Montana State University and her B.S. in Mathematics with an A.S. in Engineering from Montana Tech. Becky has also received an Online Education Specialist Certification through Quality Matters and a Montana K-12 Class 8 Licensure, which allows her to teach dual enrollment courses. She has been teaching full-time since 1999 and has taught at Salt Lake Community College and Great Falls College before coming to Montana Tech in 2013.

Becky's professional passion is in teaching mathematics, being in the classroom, and working with students. Outside of the classroom, she is committed to serving her community and college. Becky has served on Montana's Two-Year Education Council, a Montana K-12 Math Review Board, and a Professional and Continuing Education Advisory Council. Becky is most proud of serving current and future students in such roles as Phi Theta Kappa (national honor society) Advisor, Mathcounts Moderator, Math Study Skills Volunteer, and STEM Presenter and Science Fair Judge.

Non-Research Academic Interests

Becky has a genuine love for the classroom. Regardless of the level of the material or the experience of the students, she thoroughly enjoys the interaction and opportunity for growth and connection that every class brings. She has taught a wide range of freshman and sophomore college mathematics courses ranging from developmental offerings such as Prealgebra and Introductory Algebra to Precalculus, the Calculus sequence, and Statistics. She has taught using various modes of delivery and has taught dual credit/dual enrollment courses. She also recently piloted a course at Montana Tech which covered Calculus I and Calculus II in one semester. She has offered courses, workshops, and camps on such topics as mathematically modeling the spread of infectious disease, the appropriate use of technology in the classroom, and math in music.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Becky can be found cooking, playing board games (especially Scrabble), running, volunteering in the local community, enjoying the outdoors (hiking, skiing, star gazing), and spending time with family, friends, and her animals.
