Associate Professor/Department Head
Tim Kober is a Professor of Business and the Department Head of the Department of Business and Information Technology. He came to Montana Tech in 1989 after teaching at the University of Montana in Missoula.
Tim received his EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana in 2008 and has also earned an MBA, a BA in Economics and a BS in Accounting all from UM in 1985, 1983 and 1982, respectively. He earned his certified public accountant certificate in 1987 and his certified managerial accounting certificate in 1995.
Tim primarily teaches under the accounting option for the department. Currently, he is teaching the Advanced Financial Accounting and Tax courses as well as Corporate Finance and the Principles of Microeconomics. He is also involved with the Petroleum Project Evaluation course for the Petroleum Engineering Department. His research interests include accounting education, business curriculum development and business valuation.
Tim began his professional career in 1985 working in the field of public accounting in Denver, Colorado. He continued in public accounting, primarily as a tax consultant, while at Montana Tech until he took over as Department Head. He continues to consult in the areas of economic damages and business valuation.
