Montana Tech Students Participate in National Health Campaign

The Butte-Silver Bow Health Department and Montana Tech are again joining forces to bring the national “Get Yourself Tested” (GYT) campaign to Montana Tech. GYT will occur November 5, 2019 from 8: 00 am to 2:00 pm in the Health Center in the Student Union of Montana Tech.

GYT has as its goal the reduction of the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Young people aged 15 to 24 acquire half of all new STDs (Sexually Transmitted Disease). Compared to older adults this group and young adults aged 20-24, are at higher risk for acquiring STDs for a combination of behavioral, biological and cultural reasons. Many will not know they are infected because STDs often have no symptoms. The only way to know is to get tested.

"Even if not sexually active, the GYT event allows for a safe place for our students to ask questions about sexual health. All students are welcome to check-in with the Health Department while on campus this day,” notes Cricket Pietsch, Montana Tech Counselor.
