Sixty applicants from Colorado, Wyoming and Montana were evaluated in seven components: GPA, part-time work, industry experience, leadership, philanthropy, written essay and financial need. There was a total of $65,000 awarded, and Montana Tech students walked away with the lion’s share of the awards.

“We are very proud of these students,” said Petroleum Department Head Burt Todd. “Their character, work ethic and academic preparation clearly differentiate them from their peers in from schools. If I had my own oil company, I’d gladly hire any one of them!” Scholarship funds for the awards were donated by SRC Energy, Varel International Energy Services, Impact Oil & Gas, PDC Energy, Inc. and AES Drilling Fluids, LLC.

Montana Tech students receiving awards are: Clay Dean, Laura Gantz, Daniel Hannink, Ryan Keenan, Chance Maes, John O’Donnell, Courtney Piccin, David Rathgeber, Hunter Spartz, and Nathaniel Younk.
