Dr. Steven Gammon Named Dean At Montana Tech

Dr. Steven Gammon has accepted the position of Dean of the College of Letters, Sciences, & Professional Studies (CLSPS) at Montana Tech. Dr. Gammon will replace Dr. Doug Coe who will retire from Montana Tech in June 2018.

Dr. Gammon has more than thirty-years teaching, academic administration, and research experience. Most recently, he served as Provost at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where he served as the Chief Academic Officer and as the Executive Vice President for Collaboration and Strategic Alliances. Dr. Gammon holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and also holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Bowdoin College.
 
In his role at Montana Tech, Gammon will be responsible for all operational aspects and budget control in the College of Letters, Sciences, and Professional Studies. The college is comprised of departments in Biological Sciences, Business and Information Technology, Chemistry and Geochemistry, Computer Science, Health Care Informatics, Liberal Studies, Mathematical Sciences, Network Technology, Nursing, and Professional and Technical Communication, as well as programs in Statistics and Writing.

“I want to thank the search committee, co-chaired by Dr. Amy Kuenzi and Dr. Katie Hailer, for their excellent work in vetting and recruiting the candidates,” noted Montana Tech Chancellor Don Blackketter. “Dr. Gammon rose to the top and will be an excellent Dean for the CLSPS. We are looking forward to having Steve and his wife Jodi in Butte sometime in July.” 

“I am truly honored to be selected to serve as the next Dean of CLSPS,” noted Dr. Gammon. “I certainly will have big shoes to fill following in Dr. Coe’s footsteps. During my recent visit I was impressed by the outstanding faculty and staff in CLSPS and at Montana Tech and am excited to support their teaching, scholarship, and the Montana Tech students. My wife and I are looking forward to returning to Montana and living in Butte.” 

Dr. Steven Gammon will begin his role at Montana Tech in July.
