The Materials Science and Engineering program at Montana Tech prepares students for careers in materials-related fields including aerospace, biomaterials, chemicals, electronic materials, energy, and metals. The interdisciplinary program provides students access to faculty in resources of the participating STEM departments, which enables the students to attain depth in the specialized discipline of their choice.

  • Montana Tech will host the 2018 External Advisory Board Meeting for the MUS Collaborative Materials Science Ph.D. Program. The meeting will be held in the Copper Lounge in the Student Union Building on Friday, September 21. The EAB meeting proper is scheduled to take place from 9:00 am to noon. The afternoon (1:30 to 4:30 pm) will feature a series of technical presentations by participating faculty and Ph.D. students. The evening will conclude with a poster session (5:00 to 6:30 pm).
  • Montana University System Board of Regents approval for Montana Tech to grant Master of Science Degrees in Materials Science and Engineering (May 2018). Three graduate students entered the new program and began their studies in the Fall 2018 semester.
  • Montana Tech graduates its first three doctorates in Materials Science (May 2018).
