M&ME graduates are in high demand.
Job opportunities are available in a variety of industries where minerals, metals and materials are produced and consumed. These industries include but are not limited to mining, manufacturing, petroleum, iron/steel making, automotive, recycling, chemicals, paper/pulp, aerospace, maintenance, corrosion, forensics, and more. Approximately 40% of undergraduates have gone on to graduate school, with about 20% continuing on to pursue their Ph.D.
Internships
Internship opportunities can make college a debt-free investment!
We recommend that undergraduate and non-thesis graduate students gain appropriate temporary employment during all summer breaks and even during the school year. This will help you in your career choices, help pay for college expenses, and ultimately make you more marketable upon graduation. Montana Tech has close partnerships with many companies who support internship programs, and often hiring for periods of 3 - 6 months or longer.
The Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) offers paid and unpaid internships during the school year.
Growth in the M&ME disciplines and related fields has been substantial, substantially increasing opportunities for graduates. Permanent placement has been 100% for over two decades with recent starting salaries ranging between $50,000 and $72,000. These salaries do not include signing bonuses and moving expenses which are frequently provided.
