The Materials Science and Engineering program at Montana Tech prepares students for careers in materials-related fields including aerospace, biomaterials, chemicals, electronic materials, energy, and metals. The interdisciplinary program provides students access to faculty in resources of the participating STEM departments, which enables the students to attain depth in the specialized discipline of their choice.

  • Montana Tech hosted the 2018 External Advisory Board Meeting for the MUS Collaborative Materials Science Ph.D. Program on Friday, September 21. The Materials Under the Big Sky Symposium featured featured technical presentations by participating faculty and students and an evening poster session. Montana State University will host the 2019 EAB meeting and Symposium in Fall 2019. Details will be posted when the date and location are decided.
  • Montana University System Board of Regents approval for Montana Tech to grant Master of Science Degrees in Materials Science and Engineering (May 2018). Three graduate students entered the new program and began their studies in the Fall 2018 semester.
  • Montana Tech graduates its first three doctorates in Materials Science (May 2018).
