Workforce Development

Workforce Development Courses do not require college admissions.


Courses have a minimum enrollment requirement of prepaid students. Enrollment minimums must be met by the identified deadline prior to the course start date. Courses not meeting enrollment minimums will be canceled and registration fees will be returned in full. Please register on-time to avoid course cancellation.

Industrial Certifications


The CDL program teaches students basic truck driving skills introducing student to the field of heavy duty trucking. Safety as well as State of Montana and Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations and equipment knowledge are emphasized. Using a comprehensive curriculum developed by the Professional Truck Driving Institute (PTDI), student will receive approximately 150 hours of instruction including 44 driving hours that meets DOT and Federal Motor Carrie Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driving Training regulation standards addressing skills, theory/knowledge, tasks, and the duties required of entry-level commercial vehicle drivers. The program meets the needs of student with no prior knowledge or experience in truck driving interested in getting a Class-A CDL.

  • To register electronically download the application and the email the completed signed application to or drop it off in person at the Enrollment Services office in the Student Success Center (north campus). Electronic Payment can be made here.
  • Register in-person – payment is made at the Business Office in the Student Success Center (SSC) on the Montana Tech north campus. Payment Receipt must be included with Registration Form brought to Highlands College Campus.
