Completion of the first two semesters may result in a CERTIFICATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE IN CARPENTRY. Student must complete a course in each of the following areas: English, Math, and Psychology to receive a certificate.

Effective Service Learning Model for Community Partnerships and Student Learning in CTE

At Highlands College of Montana Tech, Construction Technology instructors, prepare students for construction industry careers through rigorous college course work, service-learning projects in the community for not-for-profit organizations, and through community service. 

Community Partnerships 

The Construction Technology program at Highlands College of Montana Tech have formal and informal agreements with not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 organizations to make Butte and the surrounding area a better place. The program takes on small remodels to make a home safe for low income families to full-fledged construction projects including project management services.  

Service Learning Model 

The Construction Technology program believes that through an all-day blended apprenticeship/college coursework model, students gain working to improve quality of life for disadvantaged neighbors or creating safe community spaces utilizing the skill-sets learned in the classroom and lab to make their city a better place to live.
