Highlands College of Montana Tech will host Trades & Technology Day for high school students in Southwest Montana on Thursday, October 5, 2023. The event will run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at 25 Basin Creek Road in Butte. Trades & Technology Day allows students to explore career and technical education career opportunities.

Highlands College is home to the following programs that students can explore:

-Automotive Technology
-Civil Engineering Technology
-Construction Technology-Carpentry
-Computer Networks and Cybersecurity
-Metals Fabrication Technology
-Pre-Apprentice Line Program
-Precision Machining Technology
-Radiologic Technology
-Web Development and Administration
-Welding Technology
-Commercial Driver’s License
-Certified Nursing Assistant
-Associate of Science

Space limitations, registration requirements, and chaperone registration 

This event has grown so quickly that we must initiate some parameters.

To ensure the quality of activities, attendee safety and overall event management, the following requirements will be new this year.

  • Trades & Technology Day will be capped at 300 students. REGISTER EARLY!
  • In order to ensure all schools are able to participate, each school will be limited to 20 students plus chaperones. Once chaperones register they will be contacted by email to submit a roster of their students who will be in attendance.
  • Juniors and seniors will be given priority. If you have more than 20 please send a list of students to be put on the wait list.
  • Registration will close on September 28th. Due to previous demand, early registration is key.
  •  Students will be placed with their school. Each group will take part in three hands-on learning experiences.  Chaperones are required to stay with their students.
  • Chaperones must register.
  • Chaperones will be required to be with students.
  • Same day registration will not be allowed.
  • Schools must give a list of students attending prior to check-in.
  • Students and chaperones will receive a t-shirt, bag and free lunch!
