Graduating or Leaving UM

If you are graduating or leaving Montana Tech and are currently enrolled in the student Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plan, your insurance will terminate August 31, 2007. Montana Tech only sponsors a program for enrolled students. It is up to you to find another source of insurance for you and your family if they were on the student insurance plan.

Write out a list of questions to ask of the insurance plan you are looking at.

• Ask what your deductible options are and how they affect your costs.
• Find out what is covered and what is not covered.
• Ask if the insurance company requires you to see certain doctors and if so make sure that those doctors are in you area. If it is a requirement, find out how your benefits change if you don't see one of these doctors.
• Check to see how your benefits change if you go out of town, state or country.
• Ask if the insurance company has a website that you can look at the entire policy on.

Check with your auto insurance to see if they offer a medical plan.

Ask your friends and family who their insurance provider is and how they feel about them.

Don't be afraid to ask questions more than once. If something is said that you don't understand, ask the question again until you do understand. This is your insurance and your money.
