A Study to Determine the Effectiveness and Usefulness of the Montana Tech Learning Center
Haley Doleshal
Abstract
The Montana Tech Learning Center is of incredibly high value to the students and professors at Montana Tech. Approximately twenty-five to thirty percent of the entire student body at Montana Tech seek help on courses in Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I, II, and III, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Dynamics, Fluids, Strengths, and Thermo Dynamics at the Learning Center.
A basic goal of this research project is to determine the demographic makeup of users of the Montana Tech Learning Center. The primary research hypothesis for this research project is to determine whether the users of the Learning Center believe the center provides great assistance for students with their classes and course work. The data for this study was obtained by administering voluntary surveys which contained various demographic questions and asked the student for their overall satisfaction with the Learning Center.
The results of the survey suggest that the students, regardless of age, major, or amount of time spent in the Learning Center were extremely satisfied with the services and assistance provided. The data shows that usage of the Learning Center is broad, involving all majors offered at Montana Tech.
