A Study for Comparing the Expected Returns for Keno Games to Determine WHich Game has the Highest Chance of Winning

Brittany Deffinbaugh

Abstract

Over the years, casinos have become ever-popular means of entertainment and big business. In particular, keno machines generate a large amount of revenue for casino establishments. In my research project, I will be focusing on three common keno games; Top Dog Keno, Wild Ways Keno, and Lucky Bonus Keno. I will be computing the probabilities of winning, the expected payouts, and the options for a player within each game. Through the research, I will determine which of the three games has the highest expected payout or return for the player.

Biography

Originally from Great Falls, Montana, I am attending Montana Tech to study mathematics. I intend to become a secondary mathematics teacher and hopefully end up back in Great Falls. My plan is to graduate in December of 2007 and student teach in the following spring. While going to school here, I am the secretary of both the Education and Math Clubs. I also work part-time at a local restaurant/casino, which was what first interested me in this project.
