Study of the Effects of 15% HCI Acid on Steel Casing Commonly Used in the Oil Field and the Effectiveness of Corrosion Inhibitors

Wyatt Adams

Abstract

Using 15% HCl acid solution, I will test the effectiveness of corrosion inhibitors on steel casing. HCl acid is commonly used in the petroleum industry. Many wells are acidized with an HCl solution used to remove scale and stimulate the well for increase production. Tafel plots and EH-pH diagrams will be used in the process to analyze the data from testing.
