NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program

Gerald A. Soffen Memorial Fund Travel Grants
The Gerald A. Soffen Memorial Fund is pleased to announce the first of two 2008 Travel Grant application opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies in fields of space science and engineering. The Travel Grants, in the amount of $500, enable student recipients to attend professional meetings to present their research. The first 2008 Travel Grant application deadline is April 1, 2008. NASA Call for Suggestions to re-name future telescope mission
Members of the general public from around the world will have a chance to suggest a new name for the cutting edge Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope, otherwise known as GLAST, observatory before it launches in mid-2008. The satellite will observe some of the most powerful forces known in the universe. They are looking for name suggestions that will capture the excitement of GLAST's mission and call attention to gamma-ray and high-energy astronomy. The period for accepting names closes on March 31, 2008. Participants must include a statement of 25 words or less about why their suggestion would be a strong name for the mission. Space Telescope Science Institute Summer Student Program
The Space Telescope Science Institute has announced its Summer Student Program for college undergraduates. The program will run 10 weeks from June through August 2008. STScI is located in Baltimore, Md., on the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University. The Summer Student Program is oriented toward upper-division college undergraduates, typically students between their junior and senior years. Most participants are physics or astronomy students, but applications are welcome from anyone with enough interest and experience in science who wants to take part in a research experience. International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPSCS) Summer Internships
ISPCS summer internships are designed to give students real-world experience in the growing personal and commercial spaceflight industry.  Internships are available across the United States including New Mexico, Colorado, and Washington D.C. in fields as diverse as engineering, business management, graphic design, and public policy. Students will be given a $5000 stipend for travel and expenses for a 10 week internship which will take place during the student's summer 2008 academic term.  Internships are open to graduate and undergraduate students. Internships are open to all majors unless specifically stated by the internship opportunity listed.  New Mexico Space Grant will accept applications until the internships are filled.  New internships are expected to appear regularly, so check back often!
