Xiaobing Zhou - 2010 Distinguished Researcher Award

 

Dr. Xiaobing Zhou

Xiaobing Zhou has been with the Montana Tech for 5 years. He has continued to develop his expertise in remote sensing, and to apply these methods to the study of soil moisture, and snow liquid water content, at large scales. His work utilizes spectrally resolved satellite data, coupled with computational analysis and modeling.

 

He has been a prolific writer with over 100 publications and presentations, eight in 2009 alone. He has received $600,000 in grants, and has used this money to support a variety of students; three graduate students, one post doc and numerous undergraduate researchers.

 

He is a graduate of the Hunan Normal University of China, with a PhD degree in Geophysics from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
