Susan Vuke - 2009 Distinguished Researcher Award
Susan Vuke (L) and Joseph Figueira (R)Susan Vuke has been with the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology for 19 years. She started her Montana career studying sedimentation in Flathead Lake as a graduate student at the University of Montana. Since then she has expanded her efforts to the entire state and now serves as the principle field-mapping geologist for over 40% of the state and is now the principle investigator for the Bureau's ongoing $200,000 per year US geological mapping program and primary compiler for the new digital state geological map. Her numerous publications and open file reports continue to be used by state and federal organizations and county developers and planners. She is also well known and respected for the efforts she extends to researchers from across the country as they conduct field studies in Montana.
Susan is a graduate of Indiana University with MS degree from the University of Montana.
