Thomas Patton — 2008 Distinguished Researcher Lifetime Award
 

Tom Patton has been at Montana Tech for 30 years. During this time he has become a nationally recognized expert on ground water discharge and recharge. He was instrumental in the development of the Ground Water Information Center (GWIC) which has received praise for its ease of use and information-rich products. He has recently been asked by the Federal Government to serve on a national working group tasked with developing a systematic approach to monitoring the nation’s ground-water resources.

Patton has written 20 successful proposals and received over $2,000,000 in funding to support his work. This work has led to 32 publications and over 200 presentations.

Patton has degrees from Valparaiso University and the Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology.
