Welcome to the annual Montana Tech Research Report for 1998. This publication blends news of recent faculty and student activities. Reports from Dan Dysinger and Steve Anderson document the continuing efforts to understand and predict the evolution of the Berkeley Pit. Reports by Butch Gerbrandt and Dave Carter describe the ongoing involvement of our undergraduate students in campus and extramural research. Finally Karen Porter and Keith Olson report on federally funded research that represents mapping and understanding of the earth ranging from the Montana countryside to observations of robotic activities in space.

Back to Past Research Activities Page Additionally, production of the 1998 Research Report provided hands-on learning for undergraduate students of professional and technical communication and graduate students in technical communication. Under the direction of Dr. Bill Macgregor and Dr. Joanne Cortese, students edited and produced the report, as well as learned intricacies of publishing, marketing, and management.
