Tech Student Receives $10,000 National Scholarship
Kelly Murphey, a junior in Metallurgical Engineering at Montana Tech has won a $10,000 national scholarship from the Copper Club. The scholarship is awarded as two $5,000 awards for both her junior and senior year. The Copper Club is a non-profit organization that consists of professionals from the mining, geology, and metallurgy fields. The scholarship is awarded based on academic excellence and financial need of the applicants.
Kelly, who is originally from Houston Texas, wrote an essay describing why she was involved in the extractive industries and why she needed the financial assistance to win the scholarship. Kelly has interned for Smith International and Barrack Gold Strike in her two years at Montana Tech.
Metallurgy Student Receives $1000 National Scholarship
Nick Gow, a senior in Metallurgy and Chemistry has been awarded a $1,000 dollar scholarship from The International Society of Explosive Engineers. Nick received a $500 scholarship last year from the society but was rewarded for his academic excellence this year with a $1,000 award. Nick is double majoring at Tech and looks forward to his expected graduation date of May 2006.
Alumni Recognition Banquet
Montana Tech's annual Alumni Recognition Dinner will be held Friday, Oct. 7 in the SUB Dining Hall. A no-host cocktail hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Dinner will be $20 except for those that are being honored. Their dinners will be paid for by Alumni Affairs. Athletics
Montana Tech athletics are swinging into full speed.
The football team currently sits at 4-1 and is ranked #10 in the
nation in the most recent NAIA football poll. They are in
the middle of a four game home stand and are looking to get back
on the winning track against Montana State University Northern this
Saturday. The volleyball team is in the early stages of their
conference season and are sitting at 2-1 after three conference
games. They will try for their next two wins on Oct. 4 against
Carroll College and Oct. 5 against Rocky Mountain College.
Both of these games are at home in the HPER complex starting at

Career Fair and Golf Tournament
The 6th annual Career Fair and 1st annual Career Fair Golf Tournament is rapidly approaching. The career fair is Thursday, September 15 and the golf tournament is Friday, September 16. Football Team Continues Winning Ways
Apparently Adam Cotton can do anything.
The Montana Tech senior — who switched to strong safety after leading the Frontier Conference in rushing as a freshman — tried his hand in punting Saturday afternoon.
The result was the finishing touch on an 11-8 Oredigger win over Jamestown College. For the rest of the story click HERE.
