Congratulations Matt Esquibel
Congratulations to Matt Esquibel who received a $2,500 scholarship
from Hecla Mining. Matt interned at the Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan
Idaho last summer and because of his good work, the company rewarded
him with this scholarship. Congratulations to Matt and the Mining
Engineering Department.
Graduate Survey Released
The Montana Tech 2006 Graduate Survey has been released.
The four-year graduates have a 98% placement rate. The two-year
graduates have a 97% placement rate. Congratulations to the students,

Tech Receives a Major Gift
Trafigura AG, a subsidiary of Trafigura, the world’s
third largest commodities trading company, has given $10,000 in
support of Tech’s effort to retain and attract top talent
in the fields of mining, metallurgy and geological engineering.

Athletic Update
The Montana Tech Volleyball team has won 11 straight games
after starting the season 0-4. The team has won all but two of these
games on the road. The two home wins came against UM-Western on
the new Kelvin Sampson Court. The team has started conference play
with three straight wins over Carroll College (3-0), Rocky Mountain
(3-1), and Western (3-0). The lady Diggers will return to the court
on homecoming weekend with home matches against University of Great
Falls (Sept 28, 5pm) and MSU Northern (Sept 29, 7pm). Be sure to
check out the action.
The Montana Tech Football team has pushed their record to 2-1 with
a win over Rocky Mountain College 14-10. This win came after a loss
at home against MSU-Northern 20-0. The Diggers will be in action
at UM Western on Saturday September 22 in Dillon. Homecoming week
will follow the Western game with Tech preparing for battle with
Eastern Oregon. Be sure to get your reserved seats purchased in
time.
