Montana Tech Industrial Hygiene Students and Faculty Attend Northwest
Occupational Health Conference
Montana Tech Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department Head,
Dr. Terry Spear, and faculty members, Dr. Roger Jensen and Julie Hart,
attended the Northwest Occupational Health Conference in Seaside,
Oregon October 17th through the 19th along with eleven students. Ms.
Hart presented research titled Evaluation of Asbestos Exposures During
Firewood Harvesting Simulations in Libby, Montana.
Four Montana Tech Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene students were
awarded $500 scholarships by the Pacific Northwest Section of the
American Industrial Hygiene Association. The four recipients were
Marissa Salo, Butte; Michael Faroni, Charlo; Caitlan Baldwin, Kenai,
Alaska; and Josh Pulst, Penn, North Dakota.
Montana Tech students competed against students from the University
of Washington for these awards. Students were awarded scholarships
based on their academic achievements, extra curricular activities
and potential to succeed in their occupational safety and health careers.
