Professor Grant Mitman Invited to Leadership Training
After successfully completing screening interviews at the National
Education Association (NEA) headquarters in Washington D.C., Prof.
Grant Mitman (PhD, Biology) has been invited to participate in the
Emerging Leadership Academy Class of 2008. His application was supported
by Montana Tech Faculty Association President John Brower, and by
MEA/MFT president Eric Feaver.
Prof. Mitman recounted a nearly two-hour-long thorough and unusual
interview where, among other things, screeners asked him to draw
a stick-figure picture of himself and how he fit into the educational
community! After waiting a long two weeks he was notified of his
acceptance into the leadership academy. Prof. Mitman will be the
first-ever participant from Montana.
The goal of the ELA is to provide participants with training in
campus and faculty association leadership and how to make the best
use of NEA’s vast resources to the benefit of Montana faculty
and students. Mitman hopes that his participation will encourage
other faculty members on other college campuses in Montana to participate
in the leadership academy.
