FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Montana Tech has set its vision for 2025, which is the university’s
125th anniversary. The vision includes additions to the
academic departments, offerings to students, and multiple
new facilities. Also included in this vision are requirements
for the expansion of the Montana Tech campus. As part of
this vision for expansion, Montana Tech is required to acquire
more land to house the planned facilities. ARCO stepped
to the plate to help Montana Tech achieve this vision. ARCO
Environmental Remediation LLC. gifted to Montana Tech nearly
57 acres to the west of the current campus.
“As outlined in our vision, this new land will give
Montana Tech the opportunity to expand its research and
academic facilities” Chancellor Gilmore stated.
The land includes four different sections. The first is
to the North of Blue Bird Trail and to the west of campus.
The second is south of Blue Bird Trail and south to the
World Museum of Mining and west to just before the Orphan
Boy Attet. The other two sections are south below the HPER
and extend down to Steel Street.
Acquisition of this land doubled the current acreage of
the campus and is the first step in Montana Tech achieving
its vision. Without this extra space there would be no room
for Montana Tech to increase its student population or to
build new structures. With the vision of corporate sponsors
and private donors Montana Tech will be able remain a top-tier
university for math, science, healthcare, and engineering.
“On behalf of the Montana Tech faculty, staff and
students I would like to thank ARCO Environmental Remediation
LLC for the donation of this land,” said Gilmore.
“Without the help of Sandy Stash of British Petroleum;
Robin Bullock, Rob Jordan and Marci Sheehan of AERL; Sara
Sparks of EPA; and Joe Griffin of Montana DEQ this gift
would never have been completed.”
