Montana Tech Recruiting Video YouTube Contest
Win a $5,000 Scholarship or More!!!
We need recruiting videos!! We're about to launch a new recruiting effort that will include personal microsites for prospective students which are tailored to their specific interests indicated when they request information from Montana Tech. We'd like to have videos created by students that highlight the academic departments at Montana Tech as well as student activities such as athletics, clubs, outdoor recreation, etc.
The Contest officially opens on Monday, February 18, 2013
Submissions must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2013
Videos will initially be screened by a judging committee. Winners will then be chosen by popular vote.
Official Contest Rules
Create a recruiting video about Montana Tech, or a specific degree program. Create an original video (not to exceed 3 minutes in length) and submit it on a flash drive/ memory stick or DVD or CD to the Enrollment Services Office (North Campus) or the Highlands College Front Office (South Campus) no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, March 29, 2013.
Winning videos will be posted on Montana Tech’s Official YouTubeTM Channel and Montana Tech’s website.
All video submissions must adhere to the requirements described in these Official Rules to be considered in the judging of this Contest.
Contest Criteria To be eligible for the contest participants must:

Be 18 years of age or older.

Be a student enrolled at Montana Tech during the Spring 2013 semester.

Identify a primary contact if a group or collective of students decide to enter as a team.

Submit the Video Submission Information Sheet with the video.

Complete an Authorization for Use form.
Your video must:
- Be aimed toward recruiting students to come to Montana Tech or recruiting students to a specific degree program or college.

Last no longer than 3 minutes

Note: The maximum file size for any video file submission is 100MB. Video file(s) submitted for this contest must be provided in one of the following file formats: avi, mov, mpg, wmv or mp4.
Judging criteria
- A panel of judges consisting of representatives selected by Montana Tech will view each eligible video submission for quality and accuracy of content before the video can proceed to the next stage.

Videos that are found to be high-quality and accurate will then move on to popular vote where viewers (consisting of current and future students, faculty, and staff) will be asked to vote for the best video based on the following criteria:
i. Quality of content presented
ii. Creativity in how the content is presented
iii. Creativity of visual presentation
Winners: Winners will be chosen from all entries (see prize details below). The winning entries will be showcased at an On-Campus Premier Viewing, on Montana Tech’s YouTube Channel and on Montana Tech’s website. The decisions of the Contest Judges will be final and binding in all respects. Winners of the Montana Tech’s Student Video contest will be informed by e-mail and will be announced on Montana Tech’s website.

One scholarship will be awarded to each winning video and will be posted to the business office account of the person who submitted the video. If a group submits a video, it is up to the group to decide how to divide the scholarship. The winner for each contest must supply Montana Tech with his/her legal name, mailing address, a valid e-mail address, and daytime and nighttime telephone numbers.
Prizes will be awarded in the form of a scholarship posted to the students’ business office account. Prizes are nonassignable. Winners may waive their right to receive a scholarship. Winners will be notified by e-mail in May 2013. As a condition of receiving a scholarship, winners will be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility, copyright license agreement and liability and publicity release which must be signed and returned to Montana Tech within ten (10) days. Failure to timely sign and return this affidavit, agreement and release may result in the applicable winner’s disqualification, forfeiture of all interest in prizes, and the selection of a substitute winner. Scholarships not won and claimed by an eligible winner in accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Montana Tech.
IMPORTANT – Additional Legal Information: Montana Tech reserves the right to alter or cancel the contest at any time.
Copyright and Other Important Requirements: Your video submission must be your own original work and property and may not contain any commercial copyrighted music or images. By entering the Contest, you represent and warrant to Montana Tech that:

your video submission is your original work and that you own all rights, including copyright rights, in your video submission;

your video submission does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party;

your video submission has not been entered in or won previous contests or awards;
-
your video submission does not contain any defamatory, libelous, indecent or obscene material; and
-
you have obtained permission from each person whose name, image, likeness or voice (collectively, “Likeness”) is included in your video submission, such person(s) have granted you all necessary rights to use their Likeness as described in these Official Rules, and you can make written copies of such permissions available to Montana Tech upon request. (If the Likeness of a minor is included in your video submission, such grant of rights must include a written permission from the minor’s parent or legal guardian authorizing the use of the minor’s Likeness.)
Video submissions deemed by the Contest Judges in their sole discretion to be immoral, obscene, indecent, profane or not in keeping with Montana Tech’s image will be disqualified. Montana Tech reserves the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any entry at any time which, in Montana Tech’s opinion, endangers the safety or well being of any person or fails to comply with these Official Rules.
Rights granted to Montana Tech: By entering the Contest, you agree and irrevocably grant to Montana Tech, their affiliates and their respective assigns, agents and licensees, the unconditional, royalty-free right and license to reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, edit, exhibit, create derivative works and otherwise use or reuse your video submission, throughout the world, in perpetuity, in any media, including without limitations, the Internet.
Except where prohibited, by entering the Contest you also irrevocably agree that Montana Tech may use your name, likeness, voice, photograph and any statements regarding your video submission and participation in the Contest (collectively, “Your Likeness”) throughout the world, in perpetuity, in any media, without limitation or compensation to you. By entering the Contest, you permanently waive all intellectual property rights, privacy/publicity rights and other legal or moral rights that might preclude Montana Tech’s use of your video submission and Your Likeness, and you agree not to sue or assert any claim against Montana Tech relating to their use of your video submission or Your Likeness.
Disqualification for tampering with Contest Materials Montana Tech will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or other materials or announcements relating to the Contest. Montana Tech reserves the right to disqualify anyone found to be tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of the Contest as determined by Montana Tech in their sole discretion. Montana Tech also reserves the right in their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest if tampering, viruses, bugs or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Montana Tech corrupt the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest. Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated end date, Montana Tech reserves the right to choose winners from among the video submissions entered prior to the early termination.
Submitted flash drives/memory sticks, DVDs and CDs will be available to be picked up by the submitting individual after the contest ends.

*Scholarships are Montana Tech scholarships and are not transferrable to other colleges. Scholarships will be applied to the student's account for the 2013-2014 academic year. If the scholarships amount exceeds the amount of the student's bill, the student will we receive the remainder of the scholarship in the form of a refund check.
+Faculty in these academic departments will choose the winners for these scholarships.
