Featured Scholarships
Bright Prism Ray Scholarships
Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Bright Prism Ray program awards 21 renewable scholarships to financially needy students that are interested in minerals engineering careers.
Criteria:
- Must major in Metallurgical Engineering, Geological Engineering or Mining Engineering
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must demonstrate the following academic achievement:
- MATH ACT >= 26, or MATH SAT >= 600
- Top 20% of graduating class
- GPA 3.25 or greater
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
Awarded to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, WUE scholarships are open to all degree programs at Montana Tech. The cost of attendance for a student receiving the Western Undergraduate Exchange will be 150% of in-state tuition for up to 4.5 years, provided the student remains in good academic standing. This equates to over $7,800 in savings per year!
You are guaranteed a WUE (or equivalent) if you are from one of the eligible western states and meet the criteria listed below, and apply by January 1st.

Advantage Scholarship
Awarded to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, the Advantage Scholarship is open to selected degree programs at Montana Tech. The cost of attendance for a student receiving an Advantage Scholarship will be 150% of in-state tuition for the student's entire undergraduate term at Montana Tech, provided the student remains in good academic standing and are enrolled in an Advantage degree. This scholarship is available to all out-of-state students and equates to over $7,800 in savings per year!

Presidential Scholarship
Awarded to first-time freshmen students who demonstrate high academic achievement, the Presidential Scholarship is a combination of fee waiver, WUE or Advantage scholarships plus a cash supplement of $2,000 to $3,000 per year. This scholarship is renewable for up to five years.
Criteria:
- Must be an incoming first-time freshman student
- 3.75 GPA or higher
- ACT >= 28, or SAT >=1905
- Top 10% of graduating class
- Must be pursuing a bachelor (four-year) degree at Montana Tech
In addition to the online scholarship application, you must also submit:
- An essay of 500 words stating why you chose your major
- Two letters of recommendation
Frances and Ralph Mitchell Scholarship
Awarded to one or more exceptional students who graduated from a Northern Californial High School (north of the lattitude from near Barstow to near San Maria, California) who are majoring in Geological Engineering. This scholarship is $20,000 for each of four years ($80,000 total) plus a reduction in out-of-state tuition ($7,500 added value)
