Transfer Application Timeline

For transfer students that complete their admissions file at least one month before the start of classes:

  • Within 5 working days after receiving a new transfer student application for admissions file, you will be sent notification that your application has been received and information regarding additional information needed to complete your file.
  • Within 10 working days after your admission file is complete, your file will be reviewed to determine what credits will transfer from all institutions you've attended and you will be notified in writing about the number of credits accepted, the use of those credits in satisfying the general education requirements in your program of study, and the process for reviewing the transfer classes for possible use in the your major, minor, option, or certificate.

Transfer Equivalency Guide

Montana Tech has been working diligently to develop an Online Transfer Equivalency Guide.  The Online Transfer Equivalency Guide is a work in progress and for reference only.  The equivalencies listed are the most current and are subject to change.  If a school or course is not listed, it doesn't mean that the course will not transfer, just that it is not in our database yet.  Be sure to check back often, as we are adding new schools daily.

Are you Transferring Between Montana University System Schools?

If you've attended one of the campuses of the Montana University System and wish to transfer to Montana Tech, you can request that your file be transferred to Montana Tech. To do this, complete the Request for Transmittal of Application Materials form and submit it to the institution from which you are transferring. There is an $8.00 charge for this service which must be paid to the institution from which you are transferring. This service prevents your having to gather all of the admission materials again as you did when you first applied to the University System.

The Montana University System has adopted a common-course numbering policy which ensures that equivalent courses at different campuses will have the same title, number, and prefix, and that all such equivalent courses will be accepted in transfer as if they had been taken at the receiving campus.   See the Common Course Equivalency Guide to identify which courses you've taken will transfer to Montana Tech.
