Graduation   Information

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

The ceremony for May 2012 graduates will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Alumni Coliseum (or in the HPER Complex in the event of inclement weather).  Please plan to arrive at the HPER by 10:15 to begin lining up for the procession.  You will receive a commencement program and a card with your name, degree, major, and honor status.  If your name is difficult to pronounce, please email the phonetic spelling of your name to Kathy Williams at kwilliams@mtech.edu so it can be included on your name card.  This will ensure that your name is announced properly during the ceremony. Please review the commencement list to ensure your information is accurate.  You and your guests are also invited to a reception in the Student Union Building after Commencement.

If you completed a form requesting that your records be kept confidential, your name will not be included on the commencement program or in the program. If you will be graduating with honor or high honor, you'll need to pick up your honor cord in the Enrollment Services office the week before commencement.

DRESS REHEARSAL

Dress rehearsal will take place at the HPER on Friday, May 11th at 3:00 pm.  Campus and College group pictures will be taken at that time.  Please be sure to bring or wear complete graduation attire including Gown, Cap, Tassel and Honor Cord, if applicable.

CAP AND GOWN

Caps and gowns are available at the Bookstore after March 1st .  Please note that the Bookstore will be open on Saturday, May 12th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

HONOR CORDS

If you are graduating with honor or high honor, you will wear an honor cord during the ceremony. Please stop by Enrollment Services (MG 207) the week before commencement to pick up your honor cord.  Visit this website to learn how honor and high honor are calculated.  If you misplace your honor cord, you will be required to pay an $8.00 replacement fee if you want another cord.

HOLDS

If you have a hold on your account, you will be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony.  However, you will not receive your plaque, diploma, or transcript until you have taken care of all of your holds.  Please check your Orediggerweb account to see if you have any holds.

PLAQUES

All graduates (except those with holds) will receive a plaque with a copper replica of their diploma as a gift from Montana Tech.  These plaques will be available in the Kelly Steward room in the SUB after the ceremony.

PHOTOS

Graduation photos will be taken by Glen Bodish.....more to come soon.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Please note that if you completed a Request to Restrict Release of Directory Information during your time at Montana Tech, your name will not appear on the graduation list, in the commencement brochure, or in the newspaper article about graduation.  Also, we recommend that you have this confidentiality flag removed from your account before you graduate.  If a potential employer were to call Montana Tech to verify that you’ve earned a degree from Montana Tech, we cannot release that information if you have a confidentiality flag on  your account.  If you wish to remove this flag, please complete the Authorization to Release Directory Information form and turn it in at the Enrollment Services Office in MG 207.

DIPLOMAS

Diplomas will be mailed to the diploma address you provided on your graduation application for those students who will be completing degree requirements in May.  If this address changes before diplomas are mailed, please email the Enrollment Processing Office at eprocessing@mtech.edu.
