Montana Tech landed in the top spot for public universities in Montana. This ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with millions of reviews from students and alumni. The ranking compares over 500 public colleges and state universities

It's 15:1 student-faculty ratio is favorable, too, making it a great value for students who wish to pursue petroleum engineering, engineering, or nursing (the most popular majors). Niche.com gives Montana Tech a solid B grade, buoyed by an A for safety and an A- for value.

“We are pleased to be at the top of the list of public universities in Montana,” noted Montana Tech Chancellor Don Blackketter. “We are proud to be among the best of the best universities and thrilled with our high marks for academics, safety, and value. Thanks to our faculty and staff who are dedicated to making Montana Tech the solution for a great education.”

Niche.com calculated each school's rankings carefully, with weighted factors that account for the number of awards received by faculty or local crime rates, to give two examples, which offer the reader a holistic picture of what these top schools are really like. Other important factors like "value" are represented by average net cost after financial aid, grants, and scholarship. The overall score aggregates grades for things like academics, diversity, the party scene, the professoriate, safety, student life, and other sub categories.
