Montana Tech's Geophysical Engineering Department Receives Anonymous Gift

Montana Tech’s Geophysical Engineering Department recently received a gift in the amount of $96,000 from an anonymous alumnus. The gift will be used to fund an endowment for the department to use for student scholarships and departmental equipment.

“Student scholarships have been the focus of our fundraising efforts in recent years and this generous donation helps us create a significant scholarship endowment to help offset the cost of education for students in Geophysical Engineering at Montana Tech,” noted Marvin Speece, department head of Geophysical Engineering. “Moreover, our program maintains an active field methods component in our curriculum and research and this donation allows us to purchase a new field support vehicle.”

“This gift to the Geophysical Engineering Department will impact our students and faculty in so many positive ways,” explained Joe McClafferty, Vice Chancellor for Advancement and University Relations and President of the Montana Tech Foundation. “This allows students to focus more on being successful in their college life while also providing reliable field equipment to the department. The generosity from this alumnus will be felt for many years.”
