Dr. Roberta Ray elected President of the Commission on American Parliamentary Practice


Professor Roberta Ray of Montana Tech’s Liberal Studies Department was elected President of the Commission on American Parliamentary Practice at their recent meeting in Orlando, Florida held in conjunction with the National Communication Association annual convention.

The Commission on American Parliamentary Practice is a national organization whose objectives include:

1. To deepen and widen knowledge of parliamentary law and to create understanding and enthusiasm for its effective use as a significant aspect of democratic action

2. To promote more extensive teaching of parliamentary procedure at all educational levels

3. To facilitate the exchange of parliamentary experiences and knowledge among the members of CAPP and other interested organizations.

4. To take the initiative in the development of new practices in parliamentary procedure.

 

Dr. Ray is the author of the textbook The Power of Listening. She teaches courses in public speaking, public relations, interpersonal communications and business and professional speaking.

She received her PhD from the University of Southern California.
