U.S. News Ranks Montana Tech
U.S. News and World Report released today their Best College 2013 rankings. Montana Tech earned the No. 2 spot for Top Public Regional Colleges in the West behind California Maritime Academy. This ranking is for institutions that "focus almost entirely on the undergraduate experience and offer a broad range of programs in the liberal arts (which account for fewer than half of all bachelor’s degrees granted) and in fields such as business, nursing, and education.” Montana Tech was ranked in the No. 6 spot overall, which is the exact same ranking for Montana Tech in the 2012 edition.
Montana Tech also landed in the No. 1 spot for public regional colleges on the Best Value Schools in the West. The Best Value calculation used takes into account a school’s academic quality, based on its U.S. News Best Colleges 2013 ranking, and the 2011-12 net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. For public institutions, out of state tuition and aid are used. Overall, Tech was ranked number 10.
“We are always thrilled when U.S. News releases their college rankings and Montana Tech is listed in the top tier,” announced Montana Tech Chancellor Donald Blackketter. “These rankings showcase the quality of education at Montana Tech.”
