On-Line Industrial Hygiene Masters Degree Program
The industrial hygiene program at Montana Tech is one the most highly regarded industrial hygiene training programs in the country. Since its inception in 1983, over 100 students have completed the graduate program. Our graduates have gone on to leadership positions in private industry, government, and academia in the United States and throughout the world. The industrial hygiene program at Montana Tech is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Our program provides comprehensive state-of-the-art training in: qualitative and quantitative assessment of chemical, physical, ergonomic, radiological, and biological hazards in the workplace; health effects; measurement and control technologies; statistical data analysis; regulatory compliance; health and safety-program management; and related issues. Montana Tech of The University of Montana began offering its accredited Master of Science (MS) degree in Industrial Hygiene through an online format beginning Fall Semester 2002. The online program is similar to, but not identical to the on-campus program. The online program is not currently accredited by the Applied Science Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ASAC/ABET). The Department plans to seek ASAC/ABET accreditation in 2006.
The online MS degree in Industrial Hygiene is offered by the Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department. The online MS program is designed to bring graduate education in industrial hygiene to working professionals. Montana Tech and the faculty of Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department are committed to ensuring that, academically, there is no difference in the quality of online versus the on-campus Industrial Hygiene degree program. The online MS degree is structured to encourage participative, collaborative, and applied problem-solving strategies that are facilitated by a faculty whose advanced academic preparation and professional experience help integrate academic theory with current practical application. Students enrolled in the online program will have the same instructors, course offerings, and course requirements (exams, reports, etc.) as the residential students, insofar as possible.
