ASSE/OSH Student Clubs
OSH Club
The Occupational Safety and Health Club consists of students in Montana Tech’s Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene (IH) or Applied Health Sciences undergraduate and graduate programs. The main focus of this club is to provide students an opportunity to explore the field of OSH/IH. The club has been very active in professional as well as campus and community activities.
ASSE Student Section
The American Society of Safety Engineers Student Section (ASSE) participates with its parent chapter (Big Sky Chapter of ASSE) in advancing the professional careers of its members and helps expand safety awareness. This student organization was founded in March of 2004 with only 17 members and has more than doubled over the last year. ASSE/OSH Student Club Activities
ASSE and OSH clubs participate in yearly conferences with both the Pacific Northwest Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and ASSE. These conferences give students the opportunities to both present graduate research and listen to current professional research presentations. In addition, the conferences offer an opportunity for students to personally meet professionals in the field of Occupational Safety and Health. Scholarship opportunities exist for students who participate in the organizations. In the past year, several scholarships were awarded to Montana Tech students who participated in the club’s activities.
Students enjoy numerous internship opportunities in a wide variety of fields, from construction companies to the state and federal governments. Applied Health students also participate in numerous fields during their internships ranging from medical fields, such as physical therapy, to health and fitness centers. Many of these internships have resulted in full time employment opportunities for our Tech graduates.
The clubs participate in campus activities including Tech Days, M Days, and Homecoming celebrations. Several members have participated in the American Red Cross’ First Aid and CPR Instructor Training Programs. Officers and Contact Information:
