Experience
Associate Professor Years Employed (1988-present), Montana Tech of The University of Montana Butte, MT.
- Responsible for the preparation and presentation of lectures and laboratories in the engineering subjects of thermodynamics, heat transfer, energy conversion, fluid mechanics, electric circuits and machines, digital electronics, microprocessors, instrumentation and control theory, and dynamics.
- Taught an introductory engineering design course.
- Served on committees for the search and selection of faculty as well as campus administrators.
- Participated in three ABET review preparations and presentations.
- Responsible for the formation of the curricula for the recently adopted Mechanical Engineering option in the General Engineering Department.
- Served as acting department head for two years during the absence of the permanent head.
Contract Engineer (1988-97)
Provided contract engineering services to Montana Power Company, Pennsylvania Power & Light and Advanced Silicon Materials, Inc. Duties included providing instrument technician and electrician training in the areas of instrumentation and controls. Also provided general engineering services in the rebuilding of turbines and steam generators.
Staff Engineer (1974 -77 & 79-88)
Montana Power Company Butte & Colstrip, MT.
Worked at various levels at MPC, including junior engineer, staff engineer and mechanical engineering supervisor. Duties included working as a member of a team responsible for the design, construction, start-up, operation and maintenance of coal-fired steam electric generating stations. Selected individual responsibilities included the design and construction of an office/warehouse complex, managing the repairs of a large electrical generator, and general troubleshooting of power plant operating and maintenance problems.
