Additional Accomplishments or Major Training:
1987 Quality Program Initiated by Vulcan Chemicals. Selected as Quality Systems Trainer for Hourly Workforce, responsible for training hourly workers in quality management concepts.

1988 Part of Division-Wide team that redesigned Vulcan's Emergency Response Team (VERT) to improve response to transportation emergencies involving Vulcan products. This team won the President's Quality award in 1991.

1988 Part of Division-Wide Team that reviewed training needs and systems, resulted in new Training Manager position being created, increased focus on training efforts throughout the Chemicals Division.

1989 Attended Media Training session focusing on how to effectively communicate with all forms of the media - TV, Radio, and Print.

1991 Part of Division Team addressing relationship between the plants and Division Engineering to improve project installation and inter-departmental communications. This team won a Division Quality Award in 1994.

1992 Attended second Media Training session to enhance communications skills.

1996 Chairman of Chlorine Institute Special Equipment Task Force. This was a multi-company team formed to develop repair techniques for chlorine rail cars that had major damage as experienced in the Alberton, Mt. derailment of 1994.

1997 Participated as a company representative to Wichita Plant’s Community Advisory Panel which reviewed Vulcan’s Environmental, Safety, and Health programs and community outreach activities and advised Vulcan on the community perception of current issues.
