Professor Speece received a B.S. degree in Geological Sciences from Wright State University (1982), an M.S. in Geology from The University of Michigan (1984) and a Ph.D. in Geophysics from The University of Wyoming (1992). He was appointed an Assistant Professor of Geophysical Engineering at Montana Tech in August 1992, was promoted to Associate Professor in August 1996, was granted tenure in August 1999, and promoted to the rank of Professor in August 2001. Dr. Speece has consulted in the areas of engineering, mining and environmental geophysics since 1992. He is certified as an Engineer-In-Training (Montana, 1998). He is a member of the Fulbright Association, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, American Geophysical Union, Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society, and the National Association of Geoscience Teachers. Dr. Speece is currently involved in research in Antarctica.
