Montana Tech Geological Engineering Alumni Recognition Awards 

2004 JAMES DAHY, M.S. 1989

James P. Dahy was honored as the Geological Engineering Department's recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Recognition Award at the Fall 2004, 4th Annual Awards Banquet.  Jim graduated with a M.S. in 1989, and is a Senior Mine Geologist at Stillwater Mining Company.  He  also serves as a Board Member of the Geological Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.

 

2003 DAVID ERICKSON, B.S. 1988

David Erickson was the recipient of the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Recognition Award at the Fall 2003 3rd Annual Awards Banquet.  David is the manager for WET (Water and Environmental Technologies) here in Butte.  He, his wife (Elizabeth), and another Tech Alumni, Josh Vincent, formed WET approximately three years ago and are successfully designing remedial stategies for environmental contamination sites, water right issues, sub-divisions compliance issue, and a host of other water and environmental problems. He  also serves as a Board Member of the Geological Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.

 

2002 BRIAN ERICKSON, B.S. 1996

Brian Erickson was honored as Geological Engineering's Distinguished Alumni Recognition Award at the Fall 2002 2nd Annual Awards Banquet.  Brian is the Chief Geologist of Kennecott's Greens Creek Mine near Juneau, Alaska.  Brian serves as Vice-Chairman of the Geological Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.

 

2001 DALE BARNUM, B.S. 1956

Dale Barnum was honored at the 1st Annual Awards Banquet as the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni in the Fall of 2001.  After 40-years of working, Dale is now enjoying his retirement.  Dale serves as the Chairman of the Geological Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.

 

2000 STEVE CZEHURA, B.S. 1974; M.S. 1980

Steve Czehura received the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2000.  Steve works for Montana Resources here in Butte.

 

1999 DAVID WHITE, M.S. 1991

David White received the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999.  David  works for R.T. Newmont Ninahasa Raya in Indonesia..

 

1998 JOHN BREEN, M.S. 1977

John Breen received the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998.  John is the Chief Engineer for Barrick Gold Corp. in Elko Nevada.

 

1997 JAMES VOLBERDING, B.S. 1983

James Volberding received the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1997.  Jim is the Chief Geologist for Canyon Resources Corporation in Lincoln Montana.

 

1996 JAMES HALVORSEN, B.S. 1980, M.S. 1982

James Halvorsen received the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996.  

 

1995 LEIGH FREEMAN, B.S. 1971

Leigh Freeman received the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1995.  Leigh is a Management Consultant for Downing Teal Inc in Denver Colorado.  Leigh also serves on the Geological Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. 

 

1994 DOUGLAS DRESSER, B.S. 1981 Doug Dresser received the Geological Engineering Department's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1994.  Doug is the Senior Developer  for Union Oil in New Zealand.
