MONTANA TECH LIBRARY EXPANSION AND RENOVATION

Bringing Our Heritage into the 21st Century

The mission of Montana Tech Library is to provide
resources, education and services to the Montana Tech Community,
the citizens of Montana and regional and national patrons.

To accomplish our mission, the Library developed the following renovation
and expansion plan to bring the existing building into the information age.

    Arched Entry & Pedestrian Walkway

      The new roof and arched entryway harmonize with other campus architecture. 
      A broad pedestrian walkway links the renovated Library to the rest of campus.

Lobby

A skylight brings much-needed natural light into the entrance.
The coffee shop with wireless access welcomes visitors.

The Site Plan

The purple shaded area in the site plan shows the expansion to the South.
Note six additional parking spaces and expansive pedestrian campus link.

Interactive Study Rooms

5 new study rooms will provide space for team learning with access to computers,
wireless connections, smartboards, updated furniture, good lighting and a new HVAC system.

First Floor

Reading and study space, the coffee shop and student print shop are in the southern
exposure with lots of natural light. Library resources occupy the northern end.

Second Floor

The second floor is home to campus video conferencing.
Reading areas to the south provide quiet and solitude for solitary study.
