Environmental Engineering

The Environmental Engineering Department has been very active in international programs.  There are many global environmental problems that need to be resolved effectively by improving our mutual understanding of the problems, issues, economics and political and cultural differences.

The Department’s objectives for the International Program are as follows:

bullet To develop collaborative research and scholarly activities
bullet To foster international culture and understanding for students and faculty in order for them to design environmental engineering systems that are suitable for the foreign community and the available technology.
bullet To train environmental engineers to work for U.S. companies operating in foreign countries.
bullet To better understand the global nature of environmental problems and to encourage free exchanges of ideas among students and faculty members to promote cost effective and innovative solutions.
bullet To increase technology transfer opportunities for U.S. companies by better understanding the needs and potentials of foreign countries.

Our goal is to have active faculty and student exchange programs with selected Universities in South East Asia, China, South America and Europe.  The department has already initiated faculty and student exchange programs with China.  We have developed working relationships with the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai campus and we are very interested to develop contacts with Universities in Norway and Denmark.  Exchanges have been made with Shanghai University for both faculty and students.

Department Head: Dr. Kumar Ganesan
