Educational Objectives

Graduates will be prepared to develop, implement and manage public health, occupational health, and/or industrial hygiene policies and programs.

: Upon graduation, the student should demonstrate the following
bullet

Ability to anticipate, recognize and mitigate potential hazards

bullet

Understand mandated and recommended health and safety standards.

bullet

Understand the public health philosophy of protection and enchancement of health through preventative measures.

bullet

Be able to write occupational and public health policy and programs.

bullet

Research, select, recommend and design appropriate control technologies.

  Graduates will be prepared to assume professional positions in industrial, safety or health science careers.
bullet

Be able to select and implement assessment methods and sampling strategies.

bullet

Be familiar with employer expectations and program implementation in the field of industrial hygiene.

bullet

Effectively communicate both orally and in written form.

bullet

Be able to manage and control losses associated with work place injuries and illnesses.

  Graduates will have an understanding of the role of health and safetey professionals in both occupational and public health and their obligation to their profession and the public.
bullet

Serve as advocates for occupational and public health issues.

bullet

Maintain a commitment to continued professional development and participate in professional societies.

bullet

Understand both professional and ethical responsibilities.
