Stafford Master Promissory Note

If you have already completed a Master Promissory Note for Federal Stafford Loans because you borrowed after July 1, 2000 from a four year institution that is not a direct lending school, you are not changing lenders, and you have used Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program or Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation as your guarantor, you do not need to complete a new Master Promissory Note.

Please check the following criteria to be sure that you are ready to complete the Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note.

1. Have you completed the FAFSA form for the current academic year?

2. Have you signed your Electronic Award Letter and accepted Federal Stafford Loan funds?

3. Have you applied for admission and been accepted into an eligible degree program at Montana Tech?

4. Are you a first time borrower at Montana Tech? If you are, you must complete the Loan Counseling Session before the Enrollment Processing Office will complete the certification for you to receive the loan proceeds.

If you meet all of the above criteria, you are now ready to complete the Master Promissory Note for the Federal Stafford Loan program.
