The following list of bioterroism Internet resources compiles some of the most accurate and thorough information on bioterrorism and weapons of mass destruction currently available on the web. This list is by no means exhaustive and many of the web sites listed provide links to other resources on bioterrorism. This list will be updated routinely and as necessary when new information and resources become available.
GOVERNMENT RESOURCES
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Bioterrorism Preparedness & Response Program (CDC)
CDC's Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Network provides information about chemical and biological agents, press releases, training, contacts, and other important information dealing with the public health aspects of bioterrorism preparedness and response.
National Disaster Medical System (NDMS)
A cooperative asset-sharing program among Federal government agencies, state and local governments, and the private businesses and civilian volunteers to ensure resources are available to provide medical services following a disaster that overwhelms the local health care resources. Their web site provides detailed information on their role and resources.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office is supporting the Federal counter-terrorism program by: (1) helping State and local responders to plan for emergencies; (2) coordinating with key Federal Partners; (3) training first responders; and (4) providing resources in the event of a terrorist incident.
Occupational Safety & Health Administration
OSHA provides extensive materials on anthrax and other bioterror agents and how to mitigate the threats of bioterorism in the workplace.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
Provides descriptions and links to major Federal chem/bio resources
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
Serves as the lead agency for preventing acts of terrorism in the United States. Their web site includes descriptions of major investigations underway as well as specific reports on terrorism.
State Department/Counter-Terrorism Coordinator's Office
This office has primary responsibility with the US Government for developing coordination and implementation of US counter-terrorism policy.
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disaster Registry (ATSDR)
This site offers a 10-step procedure to analyze, mitigate, and prevent public health hazards resulting from terrorism involving industrial chemicals.
US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID)
Conducts research to develop strategies, products, information, procedures, and training programs for medical defense against biological warfare threats and naturally occurring infectious diseases that require special containment.
Medical (Army Surgeon General)
This web page contains extensive medical NBC information, training materials, audio-visual clips, a search engine, and links to other sites. A downloadable version of the handbook, "Medical Management of Biological Casualties" (July, 1998) is available at this website.

IDSA Bioterrorism Information & Resources
The bioterrorism section of the web site is collaboration between IDSA and the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO)
NACCHO is a nonprofit membership organization serving all of the nearly 3,000 local health departments nationwide - in cities, counties, townships, and districts.
