Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I change my meal plan?
A. Yes. Meal plan changes must be made by 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 for fall semester and will take effect the following Sunday. Spring semester changes must be made by 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 and will take effect the following Sunday. Meal plan upgrades can be made anytime throughout the semester to meet increased dietary needs and will take effect within two business days.
Q. How will I know what my weekly Meal Plan Fund balance is?
A. Each time you make a purchase with your Meal Plan Funds, your balance will be displayed at the cash register or you can ask a cashier to check your balance for you.
Q. What happens if I lose my Digger Card?
A. You can request a temporary or replacement card from the Digger Card Center and then come to the Dining Services office to have meal plan functions activated on your temporary card.
Q. Can I host or let someone else use my Digger Card?
A. You may use your Meal Plan Funds, Digger Card Debit Account, cash, or check to host guests; however, you must accompany them. Our cashiers will confiscate any card being used by someone other than the card owner.
Q. What happens to my meal plan if I move off campus?
A. 1. You may keep your meal plan.
2. You may cancel your meal plan during the first five weeks of the semester and receive a prorated refund, minus a $25.00 cancellation fee. No cancellations can be made after Friday, September 26, 2008 for fall semester and Friday, February 13, 2008 for spring semester, unless you are withdrawing from school. You must notify Dining Services with a Residence Hall Check-Out Authorization Form prior to your departure from the residence halls.
Q. What if my Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance is less than the meal plan entrance price to the Marcus Deli Dining Room?
A. If your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance is below the meal plan entrance price, you can supplement that balance with your Digger Card Debit Account, cash, or check at the meal plan price. Your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance must be depleted before any alternate funding will be considered. After you have used your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance, you can purchase a meal at the cash price.
Q. What happens if I don’t use all of my Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance?
A. Your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance does not carry forward from one week to the next. Remember, your meal plan is a pre-paid purchase of meals for the entire semester. The service and convenience of having professionals plan, prepare, and clean up for every meal is provided whether you choose to come in or not.
Q. What’s the Digger Card Debit Account?
A. The Digger Card Debit Account is a declining balance program accessed with your Digger Card. It’s a prepaid account available to any Montana Tech campus community member and accepted throughout campus, including all Dining Services restaurants. Anyone may add money to your balance (i.e., mom and dad), but only you can spend it. You may deposit as much as you want, as often as you want. There is no fee for a debit account.
